++ Biggest misnomer! Do you "clay bar" each car before you detail it?
++ Handwashing vs automated washes
This is another big misnomer! Just because you went to a "hand car wash", it doesn't mean you will get a better job. As a matter of fact, you can get more damage from one. Here's why; people in general are lazy..the person washing your car is probably making minimum wage and doesn't care if he drops the soapy washmit. When that mit hits the ground, it picks up small debris or gravel and then he goes back to washing/scratching your car. I have seen worse; I have seen
people wash their wheels with a mit, then go right back to the paint?? Brake dust is full of METEL fragments, this kills
The best hand wash would be done by yourself or a top detail shop that uses brand new lamb's wool washmits, de-ionized water, micro fiber chamois, and high air pressure to blow the water from all the cracks and crevices. Lastly; the brand new automated washes are very good? Yes, there is very little contact with the car, they use lot's of high pressure water, and tons of high output air at the end. Remember, the more you touch the paint, the more scratches and cobb-webbing you will end up with, especially on black.
